FREEDOM OF SPEECH
Live taping on March 22, 2026 at Artichoke Music, featuring protest songs & stories with Eliza Jane & friends
|
For this special episode on 3/22/26, will be playing music I’ve written as a lifelong troubadour, traversing the globe in search of dialects, discovering a swath of humanity with voices and stories so inspiring and moving that I just can’t stop writing songs about them!
I will also feature songwriter John Shea (aka Jukebox Johnny) from LA, and local songwriter/poet Bill Valenti.
On 3/22, you'll also be the first to hear and sing along with a new song I wrote last week - a dirge for Alex Pretti, Renee Good, and the countless other innocent civilians killed by US men in uniform.
There will be comedy, pathos, voices from around the world, 12-string finger-picking and upbeat Irish fiddle music sure to lift your spirits and touch your hearts.
Think Alyson Kraus meets Joni Mitchell and John Stewart, with a little Studs Terkel, Alan Lomax, and Amy Sedaris thrown in. A little less of the Lily Tomlin/Anna Deavere-Smith fare than usual - I'm moving away from solo theater and toward singer-songwriter in my storytelling these days.
If you've taken the time to read this far, please do me the honor of replying to this email.
Let me know if you’re interested in letting me take you around the world with the Freedom of Speech Podcast, or if you’re on my list only because you’re just interested in learning dialects and accents to be a voice actor yourself.
I never wish to spam, so please unsubscribe if you have no interest in my songs, podcasts, classes, etc.
And if you’re feeling like sharing the love, let 2 or 3 of your favorite people know about my work by sharing that Patreon link.
Patreon too much work? Prefer the Book of Face right now? Here's the event link: the Facebook event
We'll have links on that page the day of the event for the livestream as well!
If you’re feeling like sharing about you, I would love hear updates on how you’re doing in this wild mad world. My dear artist & activist friends & fam, let me know if you’d like to be a guest on the Freedom of Speech Podcast. Got something to say?
Your voice matters.
Let's celebrate the power of Freedom of Speech, poetry and song to lift real people's voices up over the din of corporately sponsored media hype and war-mongering drivel that permeates our cybersphere & minds without permission.
I promise to read all responses.
Love
Eliza Jane
